California hikers survive two nights in wilderness after falling off a cliff

 Two hikers endured a harrowing three-day ordeal after falling approximately 800 feet down a snowy cliff near Idyllwild, California. The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, on Tahquitz Peak in the San Jacinto mountain range. 

Following their fall, the hikers managed to contact emergency services, reporting severe injuries. However, rescue efforts faced significant challenges due to adverse weather conditions, including high winds and low clouds, which impeded helicopter operations. Ground teams reached the victims on the first night, but persistent snow, frigid temperatures dropping to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, and turbulent winds delayed the extraction. 

After spending two nights exposed to the harsh elements, the hikers were successfully airlifted to safety on March 3. Over 20 members of the mountain rescue team participated in the operation, showcasing exceptional coordination and dedication. The current conditions of the rescued individuals have not been disclosed.
