Mexico City Protesters Demand Truth and Justice for 43 Missing Students
On Friday, the streets of Mexico City once again filled with the powerful chants of “truth and justice” as thousands of protesters gathered to mark the anniversary of the disappearance of 43 students from Ayotzinapa. Since September 26, 2014, this tragedy has remained one of the darkest chapters in Mexico’s modern history.
Every year, families of the missing students, human rights activists, and ordinary citizens unite to demand answers about what happened to the students and to call for accountability from authorities. Despite multiple investigations, the case remains unresolved, fueling anger and frustration across the country.
Protesters carried banners, photographs of the missing students, and candles, symbolizing their determination to keep the memory of the victims alive. Their message was clear: nearly a decade later, justice has not been delivered, and the truth is still being sought.
The annual demonstrations not only highlight the unresolved pain of the families but also reflect a broader struggle in Mexico for human rights, transparency, and justice.
