Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reports 22 PLA aircraft sorties and 10 PLAN vessels detected around its territory, with 15 sorties crossing the median line into Taiwan's ADIZ. Tensions with China continue to rise. ✈️🌊
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) reported a significant increase in Chinese military activity around the island. According to the MND, 22 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and 10 People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels were detected operating near Taiwan’s air and sea territory.
Out of the 22 aircraft, 15 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), escalating tensions in the region. The median line has long been considered an unofficial boundary between Taiwan and China, but in recent years, Beijing has increasingly ignored this line to pressure Taipei.
Taiwan has responded by deploying combat air patrols, naval vessels, and missile defense systems to monitor the situation. Analysts view these maneuvers as part of China’s growing efforts to intimidate Taiwan and test its defense readiness amid heightened cross-strait tensions.
The developments come as relations between China and the U.S. remain tense, with Washington reaffirming its support for Taiwan’s self-defense.
