Sarah Pochin apologises for racially insensitive remark about diversity in adverts

Former Cheshire East councillor Sarah Pochin has issued a public apology after her controversial comment sparked widespread criticism. During a discussion, she said, “It drives me mad when I see adverts full of black people, full of Asian people.”

Her remarks were quickly condemned by local residents and political figures, who called them “racist” and “unacceptable.” Following the backlash, Pochin apologised, saying she did not intend to offend anyone and acknowledged that her words were “wrong and inappropriate.”

She stated, “I’m deeply sorry for my comment. I recognise that diversity in advertising is important and reflects our modern, multicultural society. I will take this as a learning opportunity.”

Pochin, who had previously served as an independent councillor, is now facing calls to undergo diversity and inclusion training. The incident has reignited discussions about racial sensitivity and representation in British politics and media.
