Sudanese survivors of el-Fasher siege tell the BBC about RSF brutality | BBC News
Survivors from the besieged Sudanese city of El-Fasher have shared horrific accounts of violence and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as reported by the BBC. The RSF, which has been fighting against the Sudanese army for control of the region, is accused of executing civilians, burning homes, and committing widespread sexual violence.
Witnesses say that during the siege, RSF fighters surrounded neighborhoods, cutting off food and medical supplies. Many families were trapped for weeks without access to clean water or hospitals. Several survivors told the BBC that RSF soldiers targeted specific ethnic groups, accusing them of supporting the Sudanese army.
One survivor described how her family was forced to flee their burning home at night while hearing gunfire and screams nearby. Others said that anyone trying to leave the city was shot on sight.
Human rights organizations have condemned the RSF’s actions, calling for an immediate investigation into possible war crimes. The UN has also warned that the situation in Darfur is rapidly deteriorating and could lead to one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent years
