The Pentagon has announced a major overhaul of its military drone program under the Defense Operational Growth and Enhancement (DOGE) unit. The initiative aims to dramatically increase domestic production and acquire tens of thousands of cost-effective drones for defense and surveillance operations.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the goal is to make the U.S. drone fleet more self-reliant, innovative, and affordable. He emphasized the importance of cutting bureaucratic red tape to speed up the design, testing, and deployment of drones, ensuring rapid adaptation to evolving battlefield needs.
The new drone program is expected to strengthen national security, reduce reliance on foreign technology, and create new opportunities for American manufacturers in the defense sector. This move comes amid growing global demand for unmanned aerial systems in modern warfare and intelligence operations.
