When Vision Fails: Taking a Break to Protect Our Eyesight

In today’s digital age, our eyes are constantly exposed to screens — from mobile phones to computers and televisions. Overexposure to bright screens and prolonged screen time can cause serious strain on our eyesight.

According to eye specialists, symptoms like blurred vision, headaches, dry eyes, or difficulty focusing are signs that the eyes are under excessive stress. If these symptoms continue, they can lead to more severe problems, including temporary vision loss.

“In severe cases, we might need to stop until our sight can recuperate,” experts warn. Taking regular breaks, following the 20-20-20 rule (looking at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes), and keeping eyes hydrated are essential to protect our vision.

Doctors also recommend reducing screen brightness, using blue light filters, and ensuring enough sleep for healthy eyes. In extreme conditions, medical attention is necessary to prevent long-term damage.

Our eyes are one of the most precious organs — caring for them should always be a priority in our daily routine.
