European leaders walk tightrope between backing Ukraine and keeping the US on board

 European leaders are facing a difficult balancing act as they continue supporting Ukraine while also trying to ensure that the United States remains committed to the conflict. With tensions rising on the battlefield and political uncertainty in Washington, Europe is increasingly worried about the future of Western unity.

Many EU countries believe that helping Ukraine is essential for the security of Europe. They argue that if Russia succeeds, it could pose a greater threat to the rest of the continent. As a result, European governments have pledged financial aid, military assistance, and long-term security commitments to Kyiv.

However, the challenge lies in Washington’s shifting political climate. Some US political leaders have expressed doubts about continuing large-scale support for Ukraine, especially during election seasons. This has created anxiety among European allies, who fear that a reduction in US involvement could weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.

European officials are therefore trying to strengthen defense cooperation within the EU, increase their own military spending, and prepare backup plans in case US support declines.
